Monchi defends Sevilla players after breaking social distancing rules: “They have publicly apologised, which is not easy.”

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has defended the four Sevilla players who broke social distancing rules with a group of 12 people on Saturday, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Ever Banega, Franco Vázquez, Lucas Ocampos and Luuk de Jong have apologised for breaking the Phase 1 lockdown de-escalation rules. At the time, groups of up to 10 people were permitted to organise gatherings.

They have publicly apologised, which is not easy. It was an unconscious mistake. I think it is an example to ask for forgiveness at a time when we are wrong.
