Former Real Madrid star Mesut Özil has taken to social media on Saturday, to reveal his backing for a recent comparison between Blancos players past and present.
This comes after two members of Xabi Alonso’s squad connected to find the net once more earlier in the day.
The pair in question? Arda Güler, and Kylian Mbappé.
Midfielder Güler and attacker Mbappé have of course spent the early weeks of the new season building a hugely impressive connection on the pitch.
The former the creator and the latter the finisher, such efforts have proven key in guiding Real Madrid to the top of the La Liga table.
Los Blancos were condemned to their first defeat of the campaign on Saturday evening, at the hands of city rivals Atlético Madrid.
En route to as much, though, Güler and Mbappé nevertheless managed to combine to devastating effect once more.
With Real Madrid trailing by a goal to nil, the young Turk slipped his goalscoring teammate in behind, before Mbappé picked out the far corner with aplomb.
Such efforts culminated in a fresh round of comparisons between the duo and ex-Real stars Mesut Özil and Cristiano Ronaldo, who of course previously spent several seasons linking up in stellar fashion in Spain’s capital.
And as alluded to above, the former of this pair has since moved to endorse this comparison.
