Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has reestablished himself atop the European Golden Boot standings this weekend.
This of course comes after the Frenchman carried his scintillating recent stretch of form in front of goal through Los Blancos’ La Liga meeting with Valencia.
En route to a 4-0 triumph for Xabi Alonso’s troops, Mbappé was on target to the tune of a brace, adding a fine volleyed finish to an early penalty.
In the process, the former PSG man took his tally for the campaign to a hefty 13 league goals.
After Harry Kane drew a blank in Bayern Munich’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen, Mbappé has therefore climbed a goal clear in the race for the Golden Boot.
Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland, meanwhile, sits two goals back, ahead of Pep Guardiola’s men facing off with high-flying Bournemouth this evening.
Coincidentally, Mbappé’s status as new leader comes fresh off the 26-year-old being handed his Golden Boot trophy for last season in Madrid on Saturday.
