Mateu Alemany to stay at Barcelona?

Mateu Alemany’s move from Barcelona to Aston Villa has fallen through, report Marca.

As of today, everything seems to indicate that Barça’s director of football is now going to stay at Camp Nou after his latest meeting with Villa.

Barcelona announced a few days ago that they had reached an agreement for Alemany to leave the club at the end of this season, despite the fact that he still has one more year on his contract. The agreement was in response to Alemany’s request for a change of career direction. Club president Joan Laporta had given him the OK on the condition that he would settle what he had in place for the summer transfer window before leaving.

EFE report that Laporta left the door open for Alemany to return if he decided to change his mind and that is what has happened.

After failing to reach an agreement with Premier League outfit Villa, Alemany now appears ready to see out his contract with the La Liga champions.

On Tuesday, Barcelona announced that Jordi Cruyff would be stepping down from his role as sporting director of the club.
