Italy international Mateo Retegui on Atlético Madrid’s radar

Sky Sport Italia have claimed that Inter Milan are very interested in Mateo Retegui, the forward owned by Boca Juniors who currently plays on loan at Argentinian side Tigre.

Retegui made his debut for the Italian national team against England and scored the only goal for Roberto Mancini’s side on Thursday.

In June, he will be bought back from Tigre for €2.5m and Boca will keep 50% of any future sale.

On Sunday, against Malta (2-0), he rose highest from a corner to hammer home the opener. “He’s a goalscorer. We were looking for him and we found him. He opened the game; he was fundamental,” praised Mancini.

Relevo report that Atlético Madrid have a real interest in the player and are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old. There has been contact between the parties for the Italy international.

Retegui – according to Relevo – is very attracted by the idea of La Liga and an agreement between Atlético and the player would not be a problem.

Another name for Atlético’s attack is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the Gabonese striker has reportedly been followed by the Madrid club since January.
