Match Preview | Celta Vigo vs Atlético Madrid

Celta Vigo are in good form at the moment, with 10 points from a possible 15 in their last five games. Powerful performances against high-flyers Real Betis and Villarreal have boosted the Galician men’s confidence going into today’s clash with Atlético Madrid.

Marca report that Celta are aiming to cement this form with their best run of the season, as they’ve not won more than two games consecutively in 2022-23. A victory in Sunday’s match against Atlético would make it three in a row for Carlos Carvalhal’s side.

The last time in the season Celta picked up two wins back-to-back was in the third and fourth matchdays against Girona and Cádiz, respectively. Interestingly, the team which broke the streak on matchday five was also Atlético Madrid.

Apart from continuing a good run of form, three points in their home stadium of Balaídos would temporarily place them in the top half of the table, giving them a crucial push for the European spots.

Atleti, on the other hand, are in shaky form at the moment, with only two wins in five league games and an uncertain playing style.
