Marcus Rashford’s Barcelona position is already known

An insight into the role set to be afforded to incoming Barcelona star Marcus Rashford for the season ahead has on Monday been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that the 27-year-old will be utilised as a winger, not a striker.

Rashford is of course all set to put pen to paper on terms with Barcelona over the coming days.

After a saga spanning several months, Deco and the Camp Nou brass over the weekend finally moved forward with a one-year loan deal for the England international.

So, just where will Rashford slot into Hansi Flick’s squad?

The former Aston Villa man is already aware that he will not be a starter when all of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski are fit and firing.

It had in turn been suggested that, to ensure as much game time as possible, Rashford could rotate between taking to the pitch on the wing and at centre-forward.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, this will not be the case.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘As this newspaper has learned, Barça’s sporting area does not see him as an alternative to Lewandowski at the tip of the spear. Marcus’ contribution is always starting from the left flank and going inside.’
