Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri to travel to Spain to complete move to Granada

An update on the future of Manchester United Facundo Pellistri has been provided today. As reported by journalist David Ornstein, the winger is expected to travel to Spain today (Tuesday) before completing the loan move to Granada.

It will be a short-term loan, which has the aim of getting the youngster more minutes under his belt, before a return to the Manchester-based club in the summer.

It was rumoured that Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag was reluctant to let the 22-year-old leave on loan due to the club informing him that they would be unable to sanction any signings during the January transfer window. Therefore, the Dutchman delayed the initial loan deal.

However, after further discussions on Monday, the deal is now in the process of being finalised. Granada’s move for the winger is set to be a straight loan deal without the option to make the switch permanent once the loan has concluded, with United also covering a portion of the player’s wages.

The Uruguay international has featured sporadically for United this season, making 14 appearances but starting just one Premier League match with this start coming back in September. He was an unused substitute in the Red’s recent 4-2 FA Cup triumph against Newport County.

Pellistri has previously had a loan spell in La Liga – a stint at Alavés – where he made 35 appearances across two league campaigns. Despite establishing as a regular in the Uruguay setup, he is yet to make a name for himself at club level and will be looking to make an instant impact at his new club.
