Man United to benefit as Villarreal star closes on Como switch

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Villarreal is inching towards a move to Italy, with Como. This comes amid the understanding that Cesc Fàbregas’ side are closing on a deal for Willy Kambwala.

Stopper Kambwala is for his part fresh off a challenging campaign on the books of Villarreal last time out. Struck down by a serious hamstring injury, the youngster was restricted to just a pair of league appearances.

As alluded to above, though, this setback has evidently not dented Kambwala’s reputation as a potential future defensive star in the making…

As per a report from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Serie A outfit Como, amid ongoing preparations for a year in the Champions League, have set their sights firmly on Kambwala’s signature.

The brass at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia are said to be ‘advancing in talks’ over a deal with Villarreal, having identified the stopper as a ‘priority’ signing.

In the case of a transfer ultimately coming to fruition, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United will be entitled to a cut of the fee, having included a sell-on clause in their sale of Kambwala back in the summer of 2024.
