RCD Mallorca star Vedat Muriqi has on Wednesday learned the extent of the ban awaiting him, for his bizarre red card against Las Palmas.
Frontman Muriqi was for his part at the heart of one of the stories of the weekend, in Spain’s top-flight.
As much came after the 30-year-old was given his marching orders late in Mallora’s 3-2 victory at Las Palmas.
After an exchange between the Bermellones frontman and Jaime Mata, Muriqi was spotted gesturing in the direction of the Las Palmas star.
The incident, from here, was sent to the VAR room, before referee Alejandro Muniz was called to the pitchside monitor.
Replays of the incident showcased the fact that Muriqi had shown his middle finger to Jaime, with Muniz having come to the conclusion that as much was worthy of a straight red card.
And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, Mallorca have learned how long they will be without the services of their key attacker.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘This Wednesday the Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Muriqi’s gesture with only one match.’
