Barcelona legend Luis Suárez has this weekend opened up on a piece of advice he has reiterated more than once to current Blaugrana defender Ronald Araújo.
This of course comes with the latter a regular target of criticism on the part of the Blaugrana faithful.
Araújo, once considered something of a fan favourite in Catalunya’s capital, has over the last couple of seasons been singled out for condemnation on a near weekly basis.
Whilst struggling to rediscover his brilliant best form, many of a Barca persuasion have gone as far as to call for the stopper to be sold.
Speaking during an interview with Diario Sport this week, fellow countryman Luis Suárez – a Blaugrana icon in his own right – therefore provided an insight into a message he has sent the way of Araújo on more than one occasion in the past:
”Sometimes, when I talk to Ronald Araújo I tell him: When he scores goals or when he wins something, I tell him, remember, people have no memory and every three days they are going to demand the same from you, and that’s what happens to him, he has to perform every game between an 8 and a 10 because if not the people will already ask him. It’s what Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético demand of you. Be at a high level and constantly.”
