Speaking to Movistar after Atlético Madrid beat Osasuna 2-1 on Sunday night, goalscorer Luis Súarez spoke about his side’s performance.
“We didn’t deserve to suffer so much. We were very good in the first half but to win a league you have to suffer. Everyone is in this battle together. Strikers have to live in these types of situations. It’s easy to let your head drop at times but you have to keep going and I’m proud of that. The league is in our hands now and we’ve the most important game of the season coming up, one that we have to win.”
Suárez scored an 89th minute winner to keep Atlético two points ahead of Real Madrid with one game remaining in the 2020/21 season. Atleti are now just 3 points away from their first LaLiga title since 2014.
