Luis Enrique: “I chose the first three penalty takers and the rest were decided by the players.”

Speaking on La 1, Spain head coach Luis Enrique discussed his side’s World Cup defeat to Morocco.

“I think we dominated the game. We would have liked to have generated more. We had 11 shots but only one on goal. Sarabia hit the post. The penalties cost us, but I’m proud of my team. I’m sorry for those who didn’t play,” he said.

On the penalties

“It was all my responsibility because I chose the first three penalty takers and the rest were decided by the players, we didn’t even get to the fourth. Bono is a great goalkeeper when it comes to penalties and today he was superb.”

Sorry for La Roja supporters

“Unfortunately we gave 100% and we congratulate the team that wins. I feel sorry for the fans because they have given me their support and I feel it.”

On his future

“This is not the right time [to talk about it]. I’m looking forward to getting home and I guess from next week we’ll talk about the future.”
