Liverpool rival Barcelona for defensive transfer target

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have been joined in their pursuit of a leading defensive transfer target by Premier League champions Liverpool.

That’s according to Reds insider ‘DaveOCKOP’, who point towards Nico Schlotterbeck as the plyer in question.

The name of stopper Schlotterbeck has emerged as an altogether prominent one in the Spanish media chatter over recent days.

This comes amid the understanding that those in the boardroom at Barcelona have earmarked the German as a future transfer target.

Schlotterbeck, as things stand, is due to see his contract terms at Signal Iduna Park expire in 2027, meaning he could be available for a cut-price fee next summer.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media early this week is anything to go by, then Barca are not the only leading European club keen.

As per a report from the aforementioned DaveOCKOP:

‘Liverpool have held initial talks over the potential signing of Nico Schlotterback from Borussia Dortmund. Liverpool have a genuine interest in the German defender. Talks are at an early stage but a respected agency is working on the potential transfer.’
