Spanish football’s two leading clubs have this week been handed some altogether positive news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Premier League champions Liverpool are not planning a January move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi.
Stopper Guéhi was for his part all set to seal an Anfield switch on deadline day last week, only for the move to collapse at the last minute.
As much has opened the door for rival suitors to position themselves in the fray, with a whole host of Europe’s top clubs now understood to be sniffing around the signature of the 25-year-old.
Amongst these clubs are La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid, both of whom are understood to consider Guéhi an attractive profile.
And as alluded to above, this week, the Clásico rivals have seen their hopes of a deal somewhat boosted.
As confirmed by The Times, Liverpool do not intend to return for the England international’s signature in January.
Instead, the Reds are prepared to wait until the summer, when Guéhi’s Crystal Palace contract terms are due to expire.
This stance could allow another of the talented defender’s many suitors to get a leg up on Arne Slot’s side in the race for Guéhi’s services.
