Lewis Hamilton sends message to Real Madrid star Vinícius

Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton has this week sent a message of support the way of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr.

This comes fresh off another difficult evening for the Brazilian on Tuesday.

Vinícius of course took his place centre stage in the media headlines across all of Europe last night.

En route to Real Madrid putting Benfica to the sword in the Champions League, the 25-year-old netted the game’s only goal in spectacular fashion.

This high, however, was soon followed by a significant low for Vinícius and his teammates.

Amid mounting tensions in Lisbon, the explosive winger suddenly darted towards the referee, to make known that he had been racially abused by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni.

The fixture was halted for a lengthy spell as a result, with the fallout having since gripped the world of football.

Messages of support have long come pouring in for Vinícius, on the part of fans, players and more.

And as alluded to above, adding his name to the list of the Brazilian international’s backers on Wednesday was none other than Lewis Hamilton.

Taking to his official Instagram account, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion unveiled a photo of Vinícius, accompanied by the caption:

‘We’re with you Vini Jr’
