Barcelona star Lamine Yamal produced an altogether unwanted statistic in the club’s meeting with Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Hansi Flick’s troops were of course back in action on the continent yesterday evening, welcoming Unai Emery’s Villa to the Spotify Camp Nou for a Champions League clash.
Barcelona ultimately emerged comfortable victors, by three goals to nil. Lamine featured from the off in the fixture, and set the scoring in motion courtesy of a typically confident finish early on.
As alluded to above, though, the 19-year-old, over the course of the 90 minutes, did not exactly enjoy his most effective outing, from an individual standpoint.
In fact, Lamine was surprisingly responsible for a season-worst stat in the 2026/27 Champions League. As per a report from statisticians WhoScored:
‘Lamine Yamal lost 14 duels vs Aston Villa, the most by any player in a single Champions League match this season.’
