Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has this week revealed his take that he and Real Madrid counterpart Kylian Mbappé are the two clear best players in world football at this moment in time.
The 19-year-old is also of the opinion, though, that he is more deserving of scooping this year’s Ballon d’Or…
Attackers Mbappé and Lamine have of course continued to dominate the headlines across world football over recent days. Both first played leading roles in the Champions League, as their respective clubs got their European campaigns up and running with three points.
Then, this past weekend, the Frenchman and Spaniard were on target to the tune of respective braces on the domestic front.
Not only that, but they featured front and centre on the recently released 30-man shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, considered as being amongst the very favourites to lift the coveted prize.
Speaking during an interview with Movistar early this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the ‘Golden Ball’, as well as his rivalry with Mbappé, was put to Lamine Yamal.
And the young winger’s response has since turned heads across the world of football:
“Kylian Mbappé and I, we are the two best players in the world…but I think I’m the one who deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.”
