Lamine Yamal breaks Mbappé & Haaland goalscoring feat in Barcelona’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has on Monday continued to etch his name indellibly into the history books of European football. This comes courtesy of his exploits in the Blaugrana’s clash with Rayo Vallecano.

Hansi Flick’s troops are of course currently locked in action on the domestic front. With sights on a third successive victory to open the defence of their La Liga crown, Barca have welcomed the aforementioned Rayo to Catalunya’s capital.

After falling into an early deficit, the evening’s hosts have since turned things around to take the lead in the fixture.

And the aforementioned Lamine proved himself a key figure en route as much… After Raphinha pulled Barcelona level to keep alive a spectacular individual opening to the term, the Spanish champions’ winger prodigy turned the scoreline on its head.

Cutting inside onto his trusty left foot inside the visitors’ penalty area, Lamine unleashed an unstoppable strike into the near top corner. And as alluded to above, in the process, the Spanish international made history.

As per a post across Barcelona’s social media platforms:

‘Lamine Yamal becomes the youngest player in the history of Europe’s top five leagues to reach 50 goals, surpassing Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.’
