La Liga giants Barcelona have made the call, alongside Lamine Yamal, to cancel a scheduled public appearance for the 18-year-old on Tuesday.
That’s according to El Chiringuito TV, who have confirmed that Lamine was due to speak at a sponsorship event this afternoon.
After discussions between club and player, however, the decision has been made for the attacker not to attend.
Though not explicitly detailed, the assumption is that this call has been made in an effort to protect Lamine.
The Spanish international has come under heavy fire over the course of recent days, from fans, pundits and the media alike.
After he was responsible for a controversial round of comments regarding Real Madrid in the buildup to this past weekend’s El Clásico, Lamine then struggled to back up his words on the pitch.
Not only that, but he was involved in a heated series of exchanges with Xabi Alonso’s squad post-match, with Hansi Flick and co. therefore considering it best for the starlet to stay out of the public eye for the time being.
