La Liga’s most expensive summer signings

Transfermarkt have produced a piece outlining the summer transfers in the Spanish Primera División.

Only three summer signings are among the 50 most expensive on the international market, at least as of today.

With the presumed arrival of Matheus Cunha at Atlético Madrid, La Liga will have another reinforcement among the most expensive in the current transfer window. None of the new additions to the league are in the top 10, which is clearly dominated by the Premier League with up to seven players.

The most expensive signing of the summer window in Spain is Atlético Madrid’s Rodrigo de Paul, who joined the Spanish side from Udinese for €35 million, which puts him in 13th position in the ranking of the most expensive transfers. At the same time, the Argentinian midfielder is still the most expensive new face in La Liga for the 2021/22 campaign.

Matheus Cunha, Arnaut Danjuma and Rafa Mir

Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha is about to be sold by Hertha Berlin, also to Atlético, for his market value of €30 million, and will break into the top 15 of the summer transfer window, level with Dutchman Donyell Malen, the new Borussia Dortmund player after his arrival from PSV Eindhoven.

In 23rd place in the ranking is one of Villarreal’s new signings: former Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma. The 24-year-old, valued at €15 million, joined the Yellow Submarine for €23.5 million and became Villarreal’s record signing, ahead of Spanish forward Paco Alcácer.

The latest move in La Liga’s top 50 most expensive summer signings was Rafa Mir to Sevilla. The Andalusian club paid €16 million to Wolves for the 24-year-old striker, who made his debut for his new team against Getafe on Monday night. Rafa Mir is now the 49th most expensive signing of the current transfer window, according to the report.
