La Liga to introduce five-subs rule change

The International Football Association Board has approved the new five substitutions per game rule in La Liga, according to AS.

The Spanish football federation and La Liga have agreed on the decision and will implement the new rule with the league set to resume in June. There are 11 match-days left, with teams expected to play twice per week over a five-week period in order to complete the season, starting on June 20 and ending on July 26.

The temporary amendment is for competitions which have either started or are intended to start, but are scheduled to be completed by 31 December 2020. The change will help ease the strain on players in a tight programme, after the league restarts from coronavirus-related suspensions.
