Those in a position of power at Athletic Club are yet to forgive La Liga rivals Barcelona, for luring Iñigo Martínez away from the club.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Defender Iñigo of course swapped the Basque Country for Catalunya’s capital back in the summer of 2023.
As much came by way of a free transfer, after the 34-year-old allowed hsi contract terms at San Mamés to expire.
After a hit-and-miss first season on Barcelona’s books, Iñigo has since gone on to establish himself as a crucial figure in Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana backline.
And such ongoing success has not been overlooked on the part of the stopper’s former employers…
As revealed by Sport, amid fresh tensions between the two clubs owing to the Nico Williams transfer saga:
‘Athletic club do not forgive that one of their emblems, Iñigo Martínez, left for FC Barcelona with the letter of freedom.’
