An insight into the response of those behind the scenes at La Liga outfit Athletic Club to news of Nico Williams’ meeting with Barcelona has on Saturday been provided.
The name of wide-man Nico of course reemerged as a leading one in the headlines across Spain over the last 24 hours.
This came after something of a bombshell was revealed, in the form of confirmation that the 22-year-old’s representative had held a fresh round of talks over a potential move to Barcelona.
What was previously considered a dead track was afforded new life, upon Félix Tainta informing Blaugrana director Deco of his client’s desire to seal a move to the Camp Nou this summer.
And safe to say, that news of as much has not gone down at all well with Nico’s current employers…
As per a report from Diario Sport, in fact:
‘Athletic Club’s offices in Ibaigane were startled this Friday by the exclusive of SPORT about the meeting held by Nico Williams’ agent, Félix Tainta, with FC Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco. In Bilbao they could not believe that the summit had been a reality.’
Despite such concerns, those in the boardroom at Athletic remain confident that Nico, when all is said and done, will stay put once more this summer.
