Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé confirmed his hopes of keeping pace with the two standout players of the current era after reaching his latest goalscoring milestone on Thursday.
Frontman Mbappé is for his part fresh off finding the net for the 400th time in his senior career yesterday evening.
En route to France putting four past Ukraine in a World Cup qualifier, the former AS Monaco talent proved himself the star of the show.
This came courtesy of a brace, as well as an assist.
Mbappé has now hit a goalscoring benchmark which only a select group in the history of world football have ever managed.
Not only that, but he has done so at just 26 years of age.
Drawn on his achievement post-match on Thursday, though, the explosive striker highlighted the ongoing achievements of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the standard to which he must hold himself:
“400 goals don’t impress people. I want to make my mark in football history, so I have to score at least 400 more. There is one with 950+ goals, and another with 900+. 400 isn’t enough to stay in the circle of players who shock people.”
