Kylian Mbappé defends Vinícius Jr. after fresh Real Madrid fan boos

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé was quick to throw his backing behind teammate and attacking partner-in-crime Vinícius Jr. on Wednesday night.

This comes amid a fresh round of criticism being aimed in the direction of the Brazilian international.

Real Madrid were of course back in action earlier this evening, in a Champions League meeting with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu.

In the thick of a four-game suspension on the domestic front, the aforementioned Vinícius was restored to starting duties for the clash, joining Kylian Mbappé in attack.

En route to an eventual 4-1 Blancos triumph, however, the former again struggled to make his presence felt, looking low on confidence and lacking his trademark spark.

These woes on more than one occasion gave rise to boos and jeers on the part of the home crowd in Spain’s capital.

Speaking to the media post-match, Kylian Mbappé was therefore drawn on the ongoing struggles of his fellow attacker. And the Frenchman, fresh off being named Man of the Match, made use of the opportunity to defend Vinícius:

“Bernabéu booed Vini? But they also clapped for him. His performance? I am not the coach. I don’t speak about my teammates. I think he played well.”
