Kieran Trippier on life at Atlético Madrid: “It was a great experience, unbelievable.”

Speaking to DAZN about life at Atlético Madrid, Newcastle United’s new signing Kieran Trippier discussed his successful spell with the Spanish club.

“It was difficult at first, but I’m not afraid to get chucked in the deep end, to test myself and that’s what I’ve done in Spain for just under three years. It was a great experience, unbelievable. I’m happy that I did it. I managed to win La Liga… I made some great memories there. It’s an unbelievable club, they have done a lot for me on and off the pitch. I met nice people out there that I will stay in touch with for many years to come. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that I couldn’t turn down at the time,” Trippier said.

“I feel I am a much better player than when I left Tottenham because Diego Simeone is a very good manager. He helped me with my defensive side and I feel I have matured a lot since I arrived in Madrid. I was playing with good players and as a manager he was unbelievable. It was an absolute joy to play for him and a privilege,” he added.
