Key Valencia star to miss Atlético Madrid clash

Valencia will be forced to make do without the contributions of a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks in their upcoming La Liga meeting with Atlético Madrid.

The player in question? César Tárrega.

Tárrega has for his part played nothing short of a pivotal role for Valencia across the season to date.

In fact, alongside goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala, the 23-year-old is the only member of Los Che’s squad to have started every league fixture this season.

As alluded to above, though, this streak is set to come to a close this weekend.

En route to Valencia’s last-gasp draw with Sevilla over the weekend, Tárrega was shown his latest yellow card.

The Spaniard’s 5th of the domestic campaign, he is therefore facing up to a one-game suspension, to be served this weekend.

Tárrega, in turn, will not be at the disposal of boss Carlos Corberán at the Metropolitano on Saturday afternoon.
