Key Real Madrid pair set to miss Copa del Rey clash

Two leading members of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid are expected to sit out the club’s next outing.

This comes amid the understanding that neither Rodrygo nor Kylian Mbappé will be called up to face Albacete.

Real Madrid are primed to kick their Copa del Rey campaign back into gear on Wednesday night, in a meeting with 2nd tier outfit Albacete.

The matchup comes fresh off Los Blancos announcing a change on the club’s bench, after Álvaro Arbeloa was chosen to replace Xabi Alonso on Monday.

The shake-up on the bench at the Bernabéu followed a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the finale of the Spanish Super Cup the day prior.

Amongst those to have featured in the Clásico defeat were the aforementioned Rodrygo, and Kylian Mbappé.

In the buildup to the fixture, however, both were considered major injury doubts.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of plans for the two attackers to be rested in the cup tomorrow night.
