Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain may be forced to make do without the services of a key member of the club’s defensive ranks in their upcoming showdown with Barcelona.
This comes after Nuno Mendes suffered a fitness setback in PSG’s latest outing.
The French champions marked their return to action on Saturday evening, making the trip to Strasbourg for a Ligue 1 clash.
The aforementioned Nuno took his place on the bench from the off, before being introduced to proceedings for Lucas Digne early in the 2nd-half.
As alluded to above, though, en route to a comeback triumph for PSG, the Portuguese picked up an injury complaint. Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, Luis Enrique had the following to say regarding his star left-back’s well-being:
“I hope it’s nothing serious. We didn’t want to take any risks.”
It now remains to be seen if Mendes recovers in time to play his part in PSG’s highly-anticipated Champions League clash with red-hot Barcelona on Tuesday night.
