Kepa played his part in Real Madrid’s penalty shootout win over Man City

Forgotten Real Madrid man Kepa Arrizabalaga played his part in the club’s latest memorable triumph on the continent on Wednesday night.

Real are of course fresh off booking their spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

After making the trip to The Etihad to face a Manchester City side who put them to the sword by four goals to nil in the same stadium just 12 months ago, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, this time round, would not be denied.

After the two sides could not be separated across 120 minutes – Rodrygo’s opener cancelled out by Kevin De Bruyne – the matchup was sent to a penalty shootout.

And, when all was said and done, it was the visitors who held their nerve, emerging 4-3 victors from the spot.

Central to as much was goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who kept out spot-kicks on the part of both Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovačić during the shootout.

And yet, the Ukrainian was not the only member of Real Madrid’s goalkeeper contingent to have played his part in sending Manchester City packing.

Having himself previously faced off against Pep Guardiola’s side in a shootout, on-loan Chelsea man Kepa Arrizabalaga was spotted in deep conversation with Lunin, no doubt providing his teammate with tips and tricks ahead of the spot-kick lottery at The Etihad:
