Karim Benzema will not feature for Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Monday.
The Ballon d’Or winner didn’t train with Los Blancos on Sunday morning as they prepare for the short trip to Vallecas and Carlo Ancelotti confirmed his absence tomorrow in Sunday’s pre-match press conference.
“Karim is not going to play tomorrow. He trained on Friday. He felt good but then it caused him some trouble so he will not be available tomorrow,” Ancelotti said in quotes reported by Marca.
There is also a possibility that the Frenchman will miss the last game before the World Cup against Cádiz at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday 10 November.
Benzema has not been in the Madrid starting lineup since the victory at Elche on 19 October. Since then, the Real Madrid captain has only played 26 minutes, in the win against Celtic on Tuesday.
Germany international Antonio Rüdiger is also expected to miss the fixture with Rayo.
Madrid will be looking to go top of the table again, something they will achieve with a win that would put them above Barcelona, current leaders after their victory last night against Almería at Camp Nou.
