Karim Benzema’s first goal for Real Madrid in their 2-1 home win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, was the club’s 1,000th goal in the Champions League/European Cup.
Los Blancos have won the competition a record 13 times and became the first team to hit the milestone in the Champions League.
Benzema went on to score a second on the night to give Madrid all three points and move them top of Group D.
