Karim Benzema ruled out of World Cup

According to AS via French outlets Le Parisien and RMC, Karim Benzema is out of the World Cup. The injury sustained in France’s training session on Saturday is reportedly serious enough to rule him out of the entire tournament.

The Real Madrid striker went out to train with the rest of his teammates in France’s third training session in Doha. It was his first session with the squad in Qatar before he suffered his latest knock.

Our colleagues at Get French Football News report that Benzema tore his left quadriceps through over-extension whilst running and according to L’Equipe, the Real Madrid striker will be out for the World Cup opener against Australia, but Le Parisien and RMC say there will be no World Cup for the Ballon d’Or winner.

Benzema is set to be out for up to three weeks.
