Karim Benzema has withdrawn from Real Madrid training on Friday due to an injury, according to Relevo.
Early reports suggest it is not serious but the Ballon d’Or winner is expected to be out for this weekend’s La Liga match against Sevilla.
The setback comes just a couple of weeks after the striker returned from his previous injury. Against Celtic in the Champions League, the France international suffered his first injury of the season which kept him sidelined for almost a month.
Relevo report that he is not at risk for the World Cup, which is just under a month away. Tests will be carried out on Friday.
In addition to Sevilla, Madrid travel to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday and then host Girona in La Liga.
Without Benzema as the focal point in attack, Rodrygo is expected to play as the nine. He has been the preferred option when Benzema has not been available.
