Karim Benzema: “I haven’t said anything about Real Madrid to Kylian Mbappé.”

Karim Benzema lifted the Ballon d’Or in Paris on Monday night after an outstanding 2021-22 season in which he won three titles with Real Madrid.

After being crowned in the capital of his country, the captain of the reigning European champions spoke on El Larguero and Radioestadio to discuss what the award means to him.

“Mbappé congratulated me before the ceremony… we didn’t talk about Real Madrid. What he does is his own story,” Benzema said in quotes reported by Marca.

Characteristics on the pitch

“Am I a mixture of Ronaldo and Zidane? I try to have a little bit of both.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure

“It was an honour to play with him, he’s a beast. The day he left I had the ambition to be more. Since he left I’ve been motivated to do more on the pitch.”

Madrid, third best club of the season

“For me, it’s clear… Real Madrid is the best club in the world.”
