A highly-regarded up-and-coming talent on the books of Serie A giants Juventus has today admitted that he dreams of one day pulling on the shirt of Real Madrid.
The player in question? Matías Soulé.
Soulé, for his part, has proven one of the breakout performers of the season to date in Italy.
After being deemed not yet ready to contribute on a weekly basis by parent club Juventus, the 20-year-old was farmed out on loan to Frosinone.
And, since, Soulé has shone bright.
From his berth on the right wing, the Argentine has racked up a head-turning ten goals – several in spectacular fashion – to go along with two assists.
Such production has given rise to inevitable speculation surrounding Soulé’s future, amid mounting interest in his signature from Italy and beyond.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN, as cited by Il Bianconero, on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his plans for next season was put to the young attacker himself.
And Soulé, in his response, was altogether non-committal to his parent club:
“I’m talking to Juventus, I don’t know what will happen yet. I’m very anxious, but first there are still these eight games. I want to play. At Juventus I didn’t have many chances to play and I accepted this solution…”
Drawn on a ‘dream’ future destination, the Frosinone loanee then pointed towards Spain, and the aforementioned Real Madrid:
“A big dream would be to play for Real Madrid. I always thought about it when I was a child, and also to win a Champions League.”
This comes in no small part, it would appear, to a conversation between Soulé and Blancos icon Cristiano Ronaldo, during their shared time at Juve:
“I was surprised by how good a person Ronaldo is. I didn’t know him, but I listened to what was said about him. He’s a genius. I remember that one day we went to lunch and he sat next to me, we had never spoken. I was surprised because I wasn’t expecting it at all. He told me everything: about the cars he had, about what Madrid was like.”
