Jürgen Klopp issues response to Atlético Madrid manager links

Media speculation linking former Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp with the manager’s job at Atlético Madrid has this weekend been firmly shut down.

This comes amid the assurance that the German is not in active talks with the Metropolitano brass.

The name of iconic tactician Klopp emerged as an altogether prominent one across Spain’s capital earlier this week.

As much came after surprise speculation was forthcoming in the media, pointing towards the 58-year-old as a potential replacement for Diego Simeone at Atlético Madrid.

Some outlets went as far as to suggest that negotiations between the parties had already been kickstarted, over a potential summer joining of forces.

As alluded to above, however, those of a Rojiblancos persuasion eager to see Klopp take up the reins at the club need not get their hopes up.

Drawn on the rumours surrounding his client’s name during an exchange with ‘Win Win All Sports’ (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this weekend, Marc Kosicke, Klopp’s agent, responded simply with:

“Stupid speculation.”
