Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has this week lightheartedly admitted to being ‘sick of’ ex-Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Italian tactician Ancelotti is of course considered something of an iconic figure in Spain’s capital. Across a pair of spells in the Bernabéu dugout, the 67-year-old racked up multiple La Liga titles, multiple Copa del Reys, and three Champions League crowns.
Above all, though, ‘Don Carlo’ is remembered for his manner and class, viewed as a gentleman in a field which so often encourages behaviour to the contrary.
And one individual who seemingly cannot escape the shadow of Ancelotti at Valdebebas is the aforementioned José Mourinho.
Speaking during an interview with Italian outlet CorSport (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Real Madrid’s current headmaster was drawn on a recent visit paid by Ancelotti to him and his squad.
And the Portuguese, with a wry smile, made use of the opportunity to admit:
“I told Carlo Ancelotti that I’m sick of him! Every day walking through the hallway at Real Madrid, there are photos of Carlo here, photos of Carlo there.
“I am fed up, come on!”
