Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has this weekend revealed his take that a member of his side’s midfield ranks should be considered amongst the frontrunners to lift the next Ballon d’Or trophy.
The Blancos star in question? Jude Bellingham.
Midfielder Bellingham has for his part dominated the media headlines in Spain’s capital across the evening to date. This comes fresh off another standout performance in the colours of Real Madrid.
En route to a 4-0 La Liga drubbing of Málaga, the 23-year-old proved himself the star of the show, netting one goal and forcing another amid a brilliant all-round display. This kept alive what has been a scintillating start to the new campaign on Bellingham’s part.
And as alluded to above, also taking into account the midfielder’s performance level at the recent World Cup, one individual of the opinion that Bellingham’s name should be on the shortlist for the upcoming Ballon d’Or prize is none other than José Mourinho.
Speaking to the media on Sunday after Kylian Mbappé continued to build his case to be named world football’s best player with another fine goal, Mourinho assured:
“Jude Bellingham is in the Ballon d’Or race. What he does as a midfielder is absolutely incredible!”
