Jordi Alba’s situation at Barcelona: Atlético Madrid among the interested parties

Jordi Alba wants to see out his contract at Barcelona, however, that has not prevented the left-back from attracting interest from other big clubs, including Atlético Madrid.

Alba is a Culé, is playing at his club, in his city, and in the summer he is going to be a father again. These are some of the reasons, at the moment, why is not considering a change of scenery, according to Mundo Deportivo.

This is what his representatives told the Catalan club in the meeting they held last week and also in the informal lunch that Alba had with club president Joan Laporta.

At Barca, on the other hand, nobody is hiding from the fact that the best solution for all parties would be for the full-back to leave at the end of the season as he will continue to be a bit-part player next season, and that way the Camp Nou club would save on his salary. They admit, however, that he is a player who could still make an occasional contribution, as he has shown this season.

Atlético interested in Alba

Atlético Madrid are of the clubs interested in the Spain international. Atlético left-back Reinildo Mandava is currently out with a long-term injury. The Blaugrana player has long been a favourite at the Metropolitano, and they have always kept an eye on his situation.

As it stands, Alba has a contract at Camp Nou until 30 June 2024.
