Joan Laporta names the one team Barcelona want to face in this season’s Champions League

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has this week named the team whom he and his colleagues are most eager to face off with in this season’s Champions League.

The outfit in question? Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG are of course fresh off nothing short of a historic campaign on the continent in 2024/25.

Nothing short of rampant under the watch of ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, the French heavyweights romped to a first-ever Champions League title.

PSG made short work of Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan in the competition’s showpiece, dominating en route to a 5-0 triumph.

This came after Inter broke the hearts of the aforementioned Barcelona in the previous round, by way of an extra-time victory.

As much brought to an end hopes of something of a ‘dream’ showdown between the two clubs responsible for, arguably, the continent’s best football.

And as alluded to above, eager to see such a fixture play out in 2025/26, instead, is Barca president Joan Laporta.

Speaking during an appearance on CNN on Wednesday, Laporta explained:

“We hope to face Paris Saint-Germain this season so we can find out who is better. Everybody that likes football last season said that Barça and Paris Saint-Germain were the teams offering the best football in the world.”
