Barcelona president Joan Laporta views Blaugrana starlet Marc Bernal as a future captain of the club.
This of course comes fresh off the midfielder’s return to starting duties in Hansi Flick’s XI on Saturday evening.
Bernal yesterday managed his first start in the colours of Barcelona for a full 15 months.
After being gradually eased back into the first-team picture in Catalunya’s capital over the early months of the term following an ACL injury, the 18-year-old was entrusted to take his place in the middle of the park in a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.
Bernal had become something of a forgotten man by many over the last year, but the faith in his talents amongst those behind the scenes in Barcelona remains unwavering.
This is evidenced by a round of quotes attributed to Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, who, according to Diario Sport, recently explained to Bernal that:
“If everything goes as we all want, one day you will be able to be captain of Barça.”
