Joan Laporta aims dig at ex-Barcelona boss Xavi

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta early this week made use of the opportunity to fire back at club legend Xavi.

This comes after the latter continued to make clear his disillusionment with Laporta and his practices.

Xavi is a vocal backer of Victor Font, Laporta’s chief competitor in the presidential elections at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Speaking during an interview with La Vanguardia over the last 24 hours, the former midfielder therefore aimed a fresh round of accusations and jibes at the Spanish patron.

Laporta, in turn, sat down for his own exchange with the media on Monday, alongside the aforementioned Font.

And during as much, the favourite for reelection in Catalunya’s capital sniped back at Xavi, calling into question the 46-year-old’s managerial abilities:

“Xavi’s interview surprised me and hurt me. I understand that he’s hurt. With the same players, Flick wins… and Xavi didn’t. With Xavi I saw that we were going to lose and with Flick, that we are going to win.”
