Joan Gaspart: “If Real Madrid had finished as leaders before the lockdown, La Liga would have ended.”

Speaking on Tertulia del 10 del Barca via AS, former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart claimed that La Liga would have been cancelled if Real Madrid were top of the table when the season was suspended in March.

Gaspart, who was Barcelona president from 2000 to 2003, said it would have been different if Real Madrid were leading the league when it was suspended due to COVID-19.

If Madrid had finished as leaders before the lockdown, La Liga would have ended.”

The 2019-20 La Liga season is set to resume in mid-June. Barca currently lead Madrid by two points with 11 games remaining.
