Isco secures captaincy role at Real Betis

Isco Alarcón today saw his stellar start to life in the colours of Real Betis officially recognised by the powers that be at the club.

This comes by way of the 31-year-old being presented as one of Betis’ new captains.

Isco, for his part, secured a move to the Estadio Benito Villamarín last summer, when the former Real Madrid man put pen to paper on a short-term agreement with Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

And, safe to say, the move has since paid full dividends for both parties.

Isco has returned to the kind of form which saw him previously considered one of Spanish football’s finest in his role, racking up six goals and three assists across 22 appearances to date.

Such production culminated in the midfield creator having his terms extended through the summer of 2027 back in December.

And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, he has been rewarded once more.

The Valencia youth product was in attendance this afternoon, as part of the ceremony for defender Germán Pezzella’s new contract.

And, amidst the festivities, confirmation was forthcoming that Isco has been named as the latest addition to Betis’ team of captains.

After a spot opened up as a result of Andrés Guardado’s winter departure, Isco was chosen to join the aforementioned Pezzella, as well as Nabil Fekir and Guido Rodríguez, on the Verdiblancos’ list of leaders.
