Real Betis star Isco is hopeful of marking his season debut against former employers Real Madrid this coming weekend.
That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Seville.
Isco, for his part, suffered a setback in his injury recovery efforts earlier in the summer, after being forced under the knife to repair a bone fracture in his left leg.
He has since been gradually working back towards a return to the pitch, albeit with head coach Manuel Pellegrini having recently suggested that it is altogether unlikely that the attacking midfielder will be available before the September international break:
‘Isco has been out for a long time, he is coming off a fracture and has been overcoming many things that usually happen to players after these operations. After Real Madrid there are 15 days of break. The most likely thing is that he will return after that FIFA date.’
Those of a Betis persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be excited to hear the latest on the plans of Isco himself.
As per a report from the aforementioned AS:
‘Isco will do everything in his power to be able to bring forward his return and, at least, travel among those called up for the match against Real Madrid’ next Sunday.
