Isco hoping to stay at Real Betis: “I feel at home since the first day”

An update on the future of Real Betis player Isco has been provided today, following the midfielder’s fine form since his arrival at the club.

The Malagueño has become a leader at Betis with his scintillating form earning him a new contract proposal. The club’s directors have already submitted an offer for a renewal, which would extend his stay at the club until 2026 and also significantly increase his salary.

The release clause in the deal would also rise, as the club look to hold onto one of their key players. As reported by Relevo, Isco has reiterated his desire to stay at the club and close a deal as soon as possible.

He said: “My wish is to stay here, I’m happy. The affection and trust is very important, I feel at home since the first day.

“They have received me very well, it is much easier to work in this good atmosphere. I’m very happy to be here.

“I have not changed much, my mentality has always been good, I have always had the ambition to want to compete and I still have it. I have found a perfect place and I have adapted very well. I want to continue playing and to be able to win at Betis.”

Manager Manuel Pellegrini also heaped praise on the 31-year-old for his contribution this season.

He added: “At Málaga, we were fortunate to bet on a very young player, who had played very little in Primera. If it was a risky bet, the dividend was bigger than expected. He had two spectacular years.

“I knew it was not easy to meet him again at Betis, after playing so many years at Real Madrid and achieving so much. Many do not have the humility to start their career again as if they had done nothing.

“The personal demands he has had and what he is giving to this club show that it was a great success to bring him here and that he wanted to come.”
