Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has responded to suggestions that star attacker Kylian Mbappé has emerged as the only player guaranteed of a starting berth in each of the club’s outings.
France international Mbappé is for his part of course in the midst of a spectacular run of individual form at present.
Looking back to his absolute best in the colours of Real Madrid, the 26-year-old has taken on a real leader’s role in Spain’s capital.
All told, across five appearances to open the new campaign, Mbappé has racked up seven direct goal contributions.
One of few clear-cut first-choice players when all are fit and available in Los Blancos’ squad, it has in turn been reported that the former PSG standout is now the club’s one and only undisputed starter.
Speaking to the media in his latest pre-match press conference on Friday, Xabi Alonso was in turn drawn on the latest Mbappé claims.
Real’s headmaster, though, was quick to assure that:
“Mbappé the only undisputed starter? We have many games, Kylian is very important but there will be some day when he won’t be a starter.”
