Injury update on Real Madrid star ahead of Barcelona showdown

An update on the wellbeing of Real Madrid star Raúl Asencio has come to the fore online.

And the news will no doubt come as a source of relief for all of a Blancos persuasion.

Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, locking horns with city rivals Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup.

When all was said and done, Xabi Alonso’s troops emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, courtesy of goals on the part of Federico Valverde, and Rodrygo.

Along the way, though, alarm bells were set sounding amongst Real’s medical staff.

This came after the planned substitution of Antonio Rüdiger was immediately followed by the same for defensive partner Raúl Asencio.

The latter’s exit from proceedings gave rise to immediate fears surrounding a potential injury.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then those of a Blancos persuasion need not fret.

As per a report from COPE:

‘Asencio suffered cramps during the match, but he will be able to play in the final against Barcelona.’
